It's a mystery why this location of Montero's is always all-but-deserted, even on high-dining occasions like Mother's Day brunch-time. The staff is friendly; orders come quickly. The menu includes numerous vegetarian items and some non-Mexican choices for the chile-averse. A breakfast burrito seemed to over-emphasize potatoes, but the huevos con (homemade) chorizo are weirdly addictive. Prices are reasonable for upscale Albany. It's a safe place to take out-of-town relatives who would blench at Oakland or the Mission district. |
