Only an hour away, so I'm off to Cedar Key at the drop of a hat. Being vegetarian has always posed a problem there with seafood being the focal point in eating, so imagine my delight (and undying patronage) at Pat's Red Luck Cafe's offering of the best mushroom-herb omelette I have EVER tasted!! Their meal-sized garden salad had upscale variety of ingredients and their fresh fruit plate has been perfect every time. I get to add hush puppies or grits once in a while for a Southern touch and also get to remain a happy vegetarian. (Good coffee, too.) |

My family and I have visited Cedar Key, Fla, twice -- in 2000 and 2002 and visited the Red Luck twice on each visit, three lunches and one dinner. Unlike some of the other restaurants in the quaint town, the Red Luck provided consistently good food and consistently good service. I particularly like the chicken salad plate with fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes for lunch, and really enjoyed my broiled scallop dinner. |
