Moroccan and Mediterranean specialities (plenty of cous cous salads and pocket sandwiches) in a small, informal setting. Counter service. Price range: less than $10 (average meal/person, w/o drinks). The cafe supports local artists by displaying their work on the walls. Thursdays the cafe hosts "French night," where transplanted and wannabe Francophones can come and practice their language skills. Moroccan food is light, with no cream or dairy products and is prepared with homemade spices and fresh ingredients.

Interesting menu. Nothing that will knock you over, but quite enjoyable. Service is really slow. Atmosphere is pleasant enough when it's not too busy, that the wait is ok. |

My Mom, Dad, and I go there very often. The food can't be beat, and the waiters are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet! |

I wish I could clone Amanouz and take it with me. The food can't be beat, the menu is full, the staff are friendly and courteous, and the price is right. What more could anyone want. I wish I lived close enough to eat there regularly. There are so many excellent choices that I wouldn't be bored with the food. |

Amanouz doesn't try to draw attention to itself amidst the establishments of more popular (at least, more popular in this country) cuisines in the middle of the artsy "NoHo" - but those palates who enjoy Mediterranean flair are in for a treat. With better falafel than the entire state of Israel (at barely twice the cost of a pint of grease from McDonald's), this place will become your second home. All of the dishes are healthy and there are plenty of choices for the most picky of easters. Don't miss this gem! |

Amanouz is such a comfortable place--the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly help (who know your name after a few visits), and the light menu. There are plenty of veg*n dishes that are absolutely delicious. |
