Located on the second floor above Avatar's Natural Grocery in the heart of New Cumberland, Avatar's Cafe and Juice bar is central Pennsylvania's only fully vegetarian restaurant. They've been in the same location for over 20 years.
The restaurant is small and intimate. There are clouds painted on the ceiling, a mural of a tree on one wall, and several of the booths are made more comfortable with throw pillows.
For folks who want to know what vegetarians eat, Avatar's has a wide selection of meals, ranging from vegetable sandwiches to Gado-Gado. For less adventurous meat eaters, there are items that will seem a little more familiar: Seitan Tempeh Loaf w/Tarragon Sweet Potatoes (reported to taste just like mom's meatloaf) or Tofu Lasagna. Top your meal off with fresh juice mixes from the juice bar.

Avatars is now closed. I believe that it is now an Italian restaurant. The grocery store is still open. |
