My wife and I stumbled across the Blessing Hotel in the late 1980s. It was built in 1906 and has been a landmark ever since. Great place to stay on the cheap and pick up a sense of history, but the greatest treasure is the homecooked all-you-can-eat lunches every day for $6.95! If you grew up in Texas or in the country, you'll know this food. If you didn't, you need to. They are supposed to be open every day of the year except Christmas. A great day trip from San Antonio or Houston and worth it.
