La Madeline is a wonderful, Americanized French cafe. The food is great but it is best to visit in off-peak hours, as it can be very loud when the place is full. For a Saturday or Sunday brunch you could find yourself circling for a table for a while. |

Like most of La Madeleine's customers, I'm a big fan of their artery-hardening tomato bisque (with 106% of your daily saturated fat allowance!) and mushroom soups. Their wild greens salad is also quite fantastic. But even though I seem to be unable /not/ to order a sandwich or pasta when I go there, I'm always put off by how greasy and unremarkable it really is. It's too bad, too, because La Madeleine is one of our favorite spots for relaxing a bit on a weeknight. |
