There are at least four coffee shops in town nowadays. Capitol Grounds is what they all try to be - a busy, friendly place where you can get a great bite to eat. In a redone bank on a main corner, the atmosphere is great - vaults included - and it's a great place to people watch. |

Capital Grounds is a coffee shop rather than a restaurant although they do serve a few lunch items. Besides the usual coffee shop standard fare of muffins and bagels, they offer two soups a day and prepared sandwiches.
The soups are usually decent but can be a bit bland.
The seating within the shop could be improved tremendously. I find the chairs and stools to be uncomfortable. There is a raised seating area in the back of the shop which I think would be ideal for two small couches and a table or a pile of floor pillows. To me it feels as though the place is setup to encourage people to leave, like the seating is suposed to be uncomfortable so they can get your business and push you out the door. Being the only coffee shop in town, most people seem not to notice or to care. |
